The Magic Continues: A Harry Potter Bedroom

Picture this: you spend months DIYing all these magical details for an Enchanted Harry Potter Birthday Party—custom signs, potion bottles, spell books, and all the Hogwarts touches your little heart can dream up. The party comes together exactly how you imagined, everyone has the best time…and then, just like that, it’s over. Now you’re sad and wondering, what do you do with all that decor you put so much time and love into creating?

Well, if you’re me, you find it a new home—and in this case, that home just happened to be down the hall. With a little paint, a few new finds, and plenty of pieces borrowed straight from the party, we transformed my daughter’s bedroom into a cozy little pink corner of the wizarding world. Ready to see how it all came together? It all starts at Platform 9¾.

I found these wooden shelves at a thrift store and the carved design on the front immediately reminded me of the Honeydukes logo. They ended up being the perfect place to layer in potion bottles, books, owls, and all the little magical treasures we collected along the way.

One of my favorite details has to be the floating candles over the bed. At night they give off the prettiest little glow, making the whole space feel so magical. The photos above her bed I took on a little birthday adventure to Universal Studios.

These suitcase shelves are my favorite DIY of the entire room. We took an actual vintage suitcase, sawed it in half, and mounted each side to the wall to create two completely unique shelves. They were the perfect way to display all of her little Hogwarts treasures and add some old-world charm to the room.

I reused the Herbology backdrop from the party but made a custom frame for it to help transform this corner, then filled it with plants, books, and little magical details. And, of course, one drawer had to be reserved for Dobby’s socks—because every house needs a place for a free elf to find a fresh pair.

The closet got a little sprinkle of magic as well, with a few Hogwarts-inspired signs, a “Wizard in Training” mirror, and tiny details tucked here and there to make sure no corner of the room was left completely Muggle.

And with that, this Wizard in Training is signing off and leaving you with my Magical Harry Potter Amazon List, filled with some of my favorite finds from both the bedroom and the party. You’ll find everything from bedding and decor to costumes, props, and all those magical little details—including the floating candles, which yes, actually come with a wand to turn them on and off.
