44 Yard Line: A Flag Football Celebration

Apparently I started a blog in March and then immediately ghosted it.

Relatable? Perhaps, but your girls been busy. The good news is I haven’t stopped creating, just tucked behind the scenes planning, styling, photographing and dreaming up all kinds of fun ideas to share.

The even better news? I’m officially back, and couldn’t think of a better story to share than my very own birthday celebration from this Spring. So, lets kick things off at the 44 Yard Line.

One thing you should know about me: I have absolutely no problem planning my own birthday celebration.

It’s not about being the center of attention but all about creating an experience. About giving the people I love a reason to slow down, laugh more, try something different, and make some memories we might not have made on any other ordinary weekend.

Life moves fast. These are the moments I want to hold onto.

This year’s birthday inspiration came easy. My son and I had just spent the entire football season on the couch watching games together, talking stats, cheering on our team and honestly…I just wasn’t ready for it to end. So, we traded the couch for the field and turned my birthday into one last game day.

My goal here was to keep it fun. A local park, my favorite go-to snacks and a little friendly competition. My sister flew in from Kansas City, my daughter painted me the cutest banner, my bestie brought the whole fam. It all came together perfect.

Every good game starts with a little pregame fuel right? Ours just happened to come in the cutest little football cup. I used my favorite Legion brand pre workout in the flavor pink lemonade.

With the flags on and the pregaming behind us, it was time to divide into teams. I bring you Blush Blitz vs Red Reign.

Once teams were chosen, the game faces appeared and the trash talk officially began. Game On!

Red Reign took home the win for the first game but Halftime called for one thing: Less tackle, more Snackle. The little snack boxes ended up being one of my favorite details from the day with the little chocolate covered almonds looking like tiny footballs!

The second half brought even more laughs, a little more friendly competition, and a Blush Blitz victory for the second game. Here are a few more of my favorite moments from the day.

No sweet treats here, I traded a traditional cake for birthday cake protein shakes plus chocolate and my favorite strawberry cheesecake. I rounded up everything I used to pull this game day together from my favorite Legion products to the football gear, snackle boxes and party details. You can shop the complete collection here.

Turning 44 was one for the books. At the end of the day, all I needed was a football, my favorite people, and an afternoon that reminded me how much joy can be found in keeping things simple. If this inspires you to celebrate your own birthday a little differently, I’d love to hear about it.
